Privacy notice

01Who we are

Nodes & Systems Ltd is a company registered in Nigeria (RC 9591050), with its registered office at No. 42A Trans-Amadi, Port Harcourt. We decide how the personal information described in this notice is used, which makes us its data controller under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

02What we collect

When you send an enquiry through this website, we collect:

• Your name and email address.
• Your phone number, if you choose to give it.
• The details of your enquiry, which depend on what it is about: for example your organisation, your role, where a programme is based, the topic you would like to discuss, the programme you are interested in and your preferred currency.
• Anything you write in the message.

When you enrol on a programme online, we also collect the programme and start date you choose and the currency you pay in. You pay on the secure page of our payment provider, Flutterwave. We receive confirmation of the payment, its amount and its reference. We do not see or store your card or bank details.

When you enrol, we create an account for you on this website so you can use the practice test and join your cohort group. If you join the group on Telegram, we record your Telegram account number and username so that only you can be admitted.

When you take the free practice test, we record your answers, your score and the time you spend on each question. To limit free tests to five a day, we keep a coded form of your network address that cannot be turned back into the address itself. If you give your email address to see your results, we keep it with your result. We contact you about programmes only if you tick the box to agree.

When you use the practice test as a student, we record when you sign in, whether you use a phone or a computer, and your sessions, answers, scores and time spent.

We count visits to this website with a statistics tool that runs on our own website server. It records the pages you view, the page or site that sent you, your approximate country and city, your type of device and browser, and how long you stay. It recognises a returning visit by a coded identifier made from your network address and browser. That identifier cannot be turned back into your network address, and it changes regularly. These statistics are not shared with anyone outside Nodes & Systems.

Like most websites, the service that hosts this site may record basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. This is used to keep the site working and secure.

03How we use it

We use your information to:

• Reply to your enquiry and arrange a conversation.
• Prepare a proposal or an outline of sessions, when you ask for one.
• Register you for a programme and confirm its dates and arrangements, if you decide to go ahead.
• Deliver the work we agree with you.
• Keep the records the law requires of us, such as tax and accounting records.
• Keep this website secure.
• Show students their progress and results in the practice test.
• Understand how this website and the practice test are used, so we can improve them.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

04Our lawful basis

We rely on one or more of the following, depending on the purpose:

• Consent, which you give when you tick the box on the enquiry form. You can withdraw it at any time.
• Contract, where we take steps you ask for before an agreement, or deliver work we have agreed.
• Legal obligation, where the law requires us to keep or share information.
• Legitimate interests, such as keeping proper business records, securing the website and understanding how it is used, where these do not override your rights.

05Who we share it with

We share your information only where we need to:

• With the providers who host this website and our email, under terms that require them to protect it.
• With Flutterwave, which processes programme payments. Flutterwave handles your payment details under its own privacy policy.
• With Telegram, if you join your cohort group there. Telegram handles your use of its service under its own privacy policy.
• With professional advisers, such as accountants and lawyers, where their work requires it.
• With public authorities, where the law requires it.

Some of these providers may store information outside Nigeria. Where that happens, we take the steps the Nigeria Data Protection Act requires to keep it protected.

06How long we keep it

We keep an enquiry that does not lead to an engagement for 12 months from our last contact, then delete it. Where you become a client or join a programme, we keep your information for as long as the work lasts, and afterwards for six years, the period for which Nigerian company and tax law requires us to keep business records. We keep a free test result and the email given with it for 12 months, then delete it. We keep website visit statistics for 24 months. Information we no longer need is deleted or securely destroyed.

07Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, you have the right to:

• Be told how your information is used, as this notice sets out.
• Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
• Ask us to delete your information.
• Ask us to limit how we use it, or object to our using it.
• Ask for your information in a format you can take elsewhere.
• Withdraw your consent at any time. This does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.

To use any of these rights, email contact@nodesandsystems.com. We will reply without undue delay. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

08How we protect it

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of information while it is on its way to us.

09Cookies

This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Our visit statistics work without cookies. If you sign in, the site sets a cookie that keeps you signed in; it is needed for your account to work. If you pause the animations on the site, your browser remembers that choice on your own device. It is not sent to us. If you install the practice test on your phone, it keeps its own files on your device, along with any answers you make while offline until it can send them.

10Children

This website is not intended for children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

11Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
