Scale 1:10,000. Development Consulting

Public services fail people when strategy, design and institutions are planned apart.

We plan strategy, infrastructure and institutions as one, so that what is built serves the people it was meant for.

Who it is for

  • Government

Ministries, departments, agencies and local government.

  • Development partners

Donors, NGOs and the programmes they fund.

  • Communities

Community bodies and the people a place is meant to serve.

  • Institutions

Universities, schools, hospitals and the bodies that run public services.

What we help with

Strategy and evidence

  • Development strategy, research and advisory
  • Evidence and decision support

Places and infrastructure

  • Infrastructure planning and improvement
  • Built environment and settlement advisory

Delivery

  • Programme planning, stakeholder engagement and implementation support

How a programme engagement runs

  1. 01Survey

    Understand

We assess the place, the communities it serves and the institutions responsible for it, to establish a clear evidence base of current conditions and constraints.

  2. 02Markup

    Solve

We develop and evaluate a range of options against cost, priority and sequence, arriving at a sound plan that all stakeholders can endorse and carry forward.

  3. 03Built

    Build

We support the implementation, coordination and handover of every stage, leaving a working system in place, with the local capacity to sustain it over time.

Questions

How are fees set?

We scope each engagement before pricing it. After the initial consultations, we send a written proposal with the scope, deliverables and fees, and work begins once you approve it.

How long does an engagement last?

That depends on the size of the programme and the stage you need us for. The proposal sets out a timeline.

Can you work with our existing advisers and partners?

Yes. We can lead the work, sit within a wider team, or review what others have prepared.

Can you help with one part of a programme?

Yes. We can come in for a single stage, such as the research, the plan itself or support during delivery.

What to bring

To make the first consultation useful, gather what you can of the following:

  1. 01What you want to change, and for whom.
  2. 02Where it is: the location, and any maps or site plans you have.
  3. 03What exists already: studies, reports, designs or data.
  4. 04Who is involved: funders, agencies, community groups.
  5. 05Any deadlines for funding, approvals or delivery.
